Geography
History
Châtelaudren is the historical capital of Goëlo. The foundation of the fortress goes back to the 11th century and very quickly a priory and a city will be born with the shelter from the castle. Its situation with the important railway crossing of circulation as its privileged position on the river “the Leff” will support its development. It grows rich and becomes thus a city of trade and craft industry, equipped with important fairs.
The decision to establish the subsidiary company of the Petit Echo of the mode in Châtelaudren was justified by multiple reasons. Among them, the obsession of a new war with Germany forces to move away from a possible frontline and to leave naturally towards the west France.
