Church of the Sacred Heart of Dijon

The church of the Sacred Heart of Dijon is a church of style néo-Byzantine built in the years 1930, in the district of Maladière, located at north east of Dijon.

History

The construction of this church was decided in 1931 by the bishop of Dijon of the time: Mgr Small Pierre of Julleville, which became cardinal thereafter. The installation of the first stone took place later two years, on April 2nd, 1933. Built in the fields of the Parisian architect Julien Barber, the church was consacréee on May 10th, 1938.

Characteristics

This church has an overall length of 31 meters, for a width of the transept of 24 meters. The bell-tower dominates the building with its 50 meters. The cupola overhanging it transept crossing rises with 23 meters, and the nave has a 14 meters height.
