Church Santa Maria dei Miracoli

History
In second half of XVe century, there was a painting placed at the angle of the house of certain Angeo Amadi and considered as miraculous by the inhabitants of the district. Those had recourse to it to request many graces, from where need, to pay homage to him, of a construction worthy of the miracles due to this table of the Vierge.
The project was entrusted to the architect Pietro Lombardo who, with the assistance of his sons, drew and built this small temple of 1481 with 1489. During XVIe century, known interior several modifications.
In 1997, it was restored to allow the tourists and Venetian to appreciate its artistic beauties.
Outside
The church has a rectangular structure. The frontage gives on a campo, the right-sided and the apse on narrow streets while the left side is skirted by the water of a channel.The frontage is composed of three levels: the lower level with Corinthian capitals supporting an architrave, the level intermediate, ionic, composed of five blind arcs, the higher level in the shape of half-circle decorated with a rosette, three oculi and two marble circles.
All the frontage is covered with polychrome marbles, of green color serpentine, yellow, white and red porphyry. Above the gate is a curved tympanum, decorated with a bust of the Virgin with the child Jesus, work of the sculptor Giorgio Lascaris gone back to 1480.
Interior
The interior is composed of a single nave under a barrel vault with boxes where prophets and patriarchs are represented. A sloping staircase led at the raised level of the chorus, elegantly decorated with a balustrade with four polygonal statues and two pulpits, the polychrome marble whole.Rectangular space around the furnace bridge and the apse is overcome by a dome. All the walls are covered with white, pink and serpentine marble, decorated with low-reliefs and incrustations.
The delicacy of the church does of them one of the favorite places of Venetian to marry.
