Church San Sebastiano

The Église San Sebastiano is a church of the XIVe century, located at Venice in Italy.

The church San Sebastiano is built towards 1550 for the Hiéronymite S about Saint Jerome. It is altered with the XVe century, then with the XVIe century by the architect Antonio Abbondi (called Scarpagnino) which modifies the orientation of the frontage and gives him a traditional character, with Corinthian columns and a surmounted pediment of three statues.

The interior is of a great architectural simplicity but on the other hand richly and is entirely decorated by Fresque S and Peinture S with Véronèse which worked during nearly fifteen years to the decoration of the church in which it was buried besides at the time of its death in 1588.

Paintings of Véronèse are among its larger chief-of works with plays of prospect and a pictorial Composition bold and exuberant. It is in particular necessary to quote the crowning of the Virgin , the crowning of Esther but also, on the right of the furnace bridge, the Virgin, Sainte Chatherine and a monk like Saint Marc and holy Marcellin led to martyrdom on the left of the chorus.
