Church Saint-Lazare de Wrocław

Church St Lazare of Wrocław (Kościół św. Łazarza) - of Gothic style , the church built by the religious order of the Lazaristes during second half of the 14th century (replacing an identical building going back to 1260) on the road carrying out of medieval Wrocław towards the North-East (in direction of Oława). In the beginning the church and the hospital St Lazare were behind the door Oławska ( Brama Oławska ), currently they are inside the borders of the city, precisely with numbers 54-58 of the street Traugutta.

In the surroundings of the church with the Middle Ages a Léproserie for men was, an identical building for the women (hospital Holy-Hieronima), was behind the walls nords city, on the road carrying out has Trzebnica, in the surroundings of current the church Saint-Joseph (previously Św. Urszuli I Jedenastu Tysięcy Dziewic ) with Ołbin. The first mentions of the church and its hospital come us the year 1264 (referring to the versed Dîme for the hospital), from 1267 (also because of taxes, and also faisaint reference to the land acquisition) and from 1326. At the beginning of the 15th century in addition to the Leprosy, the hospital started to also deal with other diseases, although the leprous ones continuairent to be made there look after until in 1540.

During the showdown between the allied troops polono-Czech of the king (Vladislas IV of Bohemia and his/her father Casimir IV Jagellon, king of Poland) against the Hungarian on October 27th 1474, the Saint-Lazare church became the station of commandemant reinforced with the king of Hungary Mathias Corvin. Nearly three centuries later, not far from the church is with the turn of artillery of the army of Prussia (under the standard of the Hohenzollern S) to give an opinion there to besiege the town of Wrocław, and this same point on December 9th 1757 to open fire on its defenders (the Habsburg S). The church is of small size: its Nef has an interior length of 12,7 meters and a width of 7,9 meters. Inside the Saint-Lazare church one can still see the Gothic support of the cupola dating from the 14th century, the Gothic gate dating from the 15th century, two wings painted on the furnace bridge dating from second half of the 15th century as well as a statue of the Virgin Mary of style baroque going back to 1727.
