Church Saint-Eustace (Quebec)

The church of Saint-Eustace , in the Canadian province of Quebec, is a church known to have been the theater of the Bataille of Saint-Eustace at the time of the Rébellion of 1837.

The church was bénite in 1783 by Mgr Jean-Olivier Briand after the architect Augustin Gregoire had supplemented his work. New sculptures are added in 1820 by Louis-Amable Quévillon.

At the time of the rebellion, it was burnt at the time of the seat carried out by the colonel John Colborne, during which 70 patriots died, of which Jean-Olivier Chénier.

The church was restored in 1850 pennies the direction of Joseph Sawyer. The ornaments were improved thereafter under the influence of Olindo Gratton.
