Church Saint-Christophe of Liege

The Church Saint-Christophe of Liege, built towards 1240, had the characteristic to be at the same time a parish and a church of béguinage.

The béguinage Saint-Christophe would have been rested by the Inhabitant of Li2ege Lambert the Stammerer (1131-1177) who would be the initiator of the movement béguinal. Built in carboniferous liking, the church develops a Gothic style simple and being appropriate for the spirit of the béguines: vaults out of wooden, flat bedside, windows without rubble fillings, not of sculpture. Towards 1777, the interior was decorated stuccos and rubbles with the mode. Its original aspect will be returned to him only with the restoration carried out of 1885 with 1892 by the architect Auguste Van Assche. It forms part of the Walloon Inheritance today.
