Church Saint-Charles-Borromée

The Church Saint-Charles-Borromée (in German: Karlskirche ) is a church located on the Karlsplatz of Vienna. It is one of most extraordinary the example of Baroque architecture in Central Europe with its dome in form of ellipse.

It is owed has Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach which draws the plans of them and the construction of of it 1716 to its death supervises. His/her son Joseph Emanuel Fischer von Erlach takes the continuation and in 1737 completes it. The building is a votive church, ordered in 1713 by the emperor Charles VI following an epidemic of plague.

It is dedicated to saint Charles Borromée.
