Church Holy-Anne de Gassicourt
The church Holy-Anne de Gassicourt , of Romance style , is located in the Mantes-the-Pretty commune of , in the department of the Yvelines (78).
History
The church Holy-Anne de Gassicourt, of the S, was located at its construction, in wood and covered an important field. The monks of Gassicourt had grounds which were spread out over banks of the Seine between the Rock-Guyon and Aubergenville. The church is located today in the Mantes-the-Pretty outskirts of the city of . In the beginning abbey church, the Holy-Anne abbey gathered only one ten monks. After multiple destruction, (it was rebuilt at the 12th century) there currently remains of the abbey only a Sacristie. In 1074, Raoul de Mauvoisin, lord of the Mantois, made gift of the grounds of Gassicourt to the Abbaye of Cluny, which builds the Saint-Sulpice priory then. Then, the field passes under the authority of the abbey of Cîteaux. In 1738, the whole of the field is bought by François-Olivier de Senozan, marquis de Rosny, who constrained at the beginning of the monks the following year. The claustral buildings are destroyed.
Finally restored between 1856 and 1874, the church is classified historic building in 1862. It was unfortunately damaged by the bombardment of the second world war.
External architecture
Of modest size, it is built in the pure novel-Burgundian style. The rectangular Bell-tower, with the triangular roof is decorated with heads and busts. The Western gate, out of wood, is decorated by a tympanum in spangled half-circle, surrounded by anthropomorphic heads. Many a Pinacle S decorates the roofs.
Interior architecture
The Nave, delimited by two arranged of four Romance pillars, has a ceiling out of wooden. The Voûte S of the Déambulatoire are they also of Romance style.
The stained glasses of the 14th century make the celebrity of the place. To note, the stained glass in rosette with the top of the gate, in oculus , representing a wheel of good fortune. One can also add the splendid stained glasses of the chorus, representing on the right, Saint Hugo, Saint Eloi, Saint Paul and Saint Patrick, and on the left Saint Sulpice, Saint Nicolas, holy Jean the evangelist, and holy Jean Baptiste.
