Chuck Willis
Harold (Chuck) Willis (January 31st 1928 - April 10th 1958) is a singer of Blues, Rhythm and blues and American Rock “roll. Its more famous recording is the standard of the blues " D.C. To wrinkle ".
Chuck Willis is born with Atlanta in Georgia. It signs at Columbia Records in 1951 but is directed towards the sub-brand Okeh. In 1954, he writes Oh What has Dream for Ruth Brown. He is engaged in 1956 by Atlantic where he meets success thanks to It' S Too Late and especially D.C. Ryder , which is classified n°12 American charts in April 1957. He does better still with What I' m Living For (n°9) in 1958.
Alas, suffering of ulcers, Chuck Willis is reached of a peritonitis and does not survive the operation. This promising artist disappears at just thirty years.
Its songs were taken again by Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Otis Redding, The Animals, Grateful Dead, Derek and the Dominos, Otis Rush, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich, etc In 2005, it was samplé by Kanye West.
