Chti

Chti is the free guide of the metropolis inhabitant of Lille produced by students of the École of the High commercial Studies of North since 1973. In 2006, it is distributed to 250.000 free specimens, its assistantship is estimated at 1 million people.

Guide general practitioner, one finds there all the addresses which the inhabitants of the metropolis can need with the daily newspaper: Restaurant S, establishments of the night, activities of Culture and Leisure, trade in all kinds, etc It is composed of 416 pages of good plans, divided into 7 headings: Practical life, Culture, Leisures, Good Addresses, Special occasionss, Restaurants and Lille the Night.

The distribution of Ch' Ti is the object every year of great demonstrations in the center town of Lille and all the metropolis inhabitant of Lille.

History

1973 : Creation of association the APPRENTICE CHTIMI, who publishes Chti.
1974 : 1st edition of Chti, 20.000 specimens, 80 black pages and white, free distribution.
1975 : Chti becomes paying.
1986 : 80.000 specimens, return to the exemption from payment. Launching of the first Great Cause, the UNICEF.
1988 : First Godfather for Chti, Christophe Lambert.
1992 : The CAM and the CAD are carried out in-house.
1993 : 100.000 specimens.
1994 : First Topic for Chti.
1995 : Chti becomes the first guide of the metropolis inhabitant of Lille.
1996 : 140.000 specimens.
2000 : 200.000 specimens. Launching of Internet site: www.lechti.com
2002: 250.000 specimens, current pulling. Distribution of the guide over one complete weekend. Chti becomes the first studied guide of France.
2003 : Creation of EasyLille.
2005 : Dirty creation of Chtite.

The guides EasyLille and Chtite Canaille are produced by teams from 2 to 3 people, integrated into the operation of association, and thus a fortiori of Chti.

2006 : The distribution is now made Place of the Republic in Lille
2007: Chti develops and grown… Chtite Canaille passes to 30.000 specimens and Easylille to 75.000 ex

The team publishing Chti

The Chtimi Apprentice, who publishes Chti, is a association governed by the law of July 1st, 1901. Created by students of Edhec in 1973, it is since exclusively made up members belonging to this school.

The team of Chti 2007 is made up of 61 members: - 29 first-year students. - 28 students of second year. - 4 students of third year.

The students are recruited by association for a 2 years minimum:

- A first year of training at their future post and discovered association in its globality.

- A second year during which they are responsible for their pole and are in charge of the good progress of work for the exit of the guide.

A small number of students of 3rd year are charged to supervise the whole of the activities and to accompany the team in her work. They occupy the stations of the office of association.

Chti in practice

Each establishment in the guide is tested each year. Since 1978, the restaurants are noted from 1 to 5 C. These notes are given by the members of the team of Chti. However, one can wonder which is the relevance of those when some of the visited restaurants, pay for an advertisement or offer reductions to the carriers of the guide. To put an end to the debate, the testers estimate not to have not to sanction an establishment or a restaurant, but to index those who are pleasant and are worth a turning.

Chti became a local reference among the tourist guides. However, he likes to recall that he is still carried out by students and adds some false addresses with a factitious restaurant.

He is distributed during one weekend, generally in March. The edition 2007 will be distributed the Place March 24th and 25th Republic to Lille. But also on March 24th in Roubaix (DC Mac Arthur Glen) and in Tourcoing (Town square). It is since many years the occasion to organize a great popular holiday which gathers all the families around many animations and activities.

Financings

It is drawn with 250.000 annual specimens since 2002. Since 2003 is published a guide bound for the tourists english-speaking, EasyLille and since 2005 a guide for the 0-12 years, Chtite Canaille .

Chti is free, it is financed only by the Publicité. The gifts collected at the time of the distribution general public are transferred with a great cause: an association chosen by the team of Chti. Thus, more 86.000€ could be transferred in 2006 with association Petits Princes thanks to the gifts collected during the distribution of the guide.
