- July 15th: Napoleon, having requested asylum from the British, embarks on the ship Bellérophon towards Sainte-Hélène. He dies there the May 5th 1821.
- November 20th: second treaty of Paris, France loses the Duché of Savoy and must maintain an occupying army.
