Chronology of the history of Quebec (1982 with today)

This section of the Chronologie of the history of Quebec relates to the events since the repatriation of the Act of British North America until today.
Years 1980
-
1982 - the April 17th, the federal government of Pierre Trudeau carries out the unilateral repatriation of the Acte of British North America.
- 1984 - the May 8th, the corporal Denis Lortie penetrates in the National Assembly and starts to shoot at people whom it meets in the passing with a firearm. It 3 died there and 9 wounded.
- 1984 - Pierre Trudeau resigns of his station of Prime Minister of Canada.
- 1984 - Brian Mulroney, of Bay-Comeau in Quebec, becomes Prime Minister of Canada.
- 1984 - Rene Lévesque accepts the Beau risks constitutional negotiations with the Mulroney government. This decision divides deeply the Parti Québécois.
- 1985 - Rene Lévesque resigns of his position of president of the Parti Québécois.
- 1985 - General election (Quebec): the liberals gain the majority of the seats.
- 1987 - the Accord of the lake Meech obtains the downstream of the federal government and the provinces. It is however not ratified.
- 1987 - Rene Lévesque dies.
- 1988 - the Accord of free trade canado-American is signed. The quasi-unanimous support of Quebec plays an important role in the balance of power.
- 1989 - on March 13rd, a solar Orage causes a power cut which lasts 9 hours in several places of Quebec.
- 1989 - General election (Quebec): the liberals are deferred to the capacity.
- 1989 - Massacre of the Polytechnic school the December 6th.
Years 1990

1990 - Beginning of the Crisis of Oka.
- 1990 - Lucien Bouchard leaves the conspicuous Council of Ministers of Brian Mulroney to come collapse from the Accord of the lake Meech. He founds the Québécois Bloc thereafter.
- 1990 - the Agreement of the lake Meech crumbles, some provinces having decided not to ratify it. The support with the independence of Quebec reaches unequalled tops thereafter.
- 1991 - the federal government founds the Taxe on the products and services (TPS).
- 1991 - Adoption of law 150 the June 20th. This law promised the behavior of a referendum on sovereignty if no constitutional agreement were signed between Ottawa and Quebec from here 1992. (The law was amended later to allow the behavior of a referendum on the Accord of Charlottetown.)
- 1992 - the August 13rd, Richard Holden, a former member of the Parti equality joined the rows of the Parti Québécois.
- 1992 - Referendum on the Agreement of Charlottetown the October 26th. English Canada and Quebec reject both the constitutional agreement.
- 1993 - Brian Mulroney resigns of her post of Prime Minister of Canada the February 24th.
- 1993 - Jean Chrétien, of Shawinigan in Quebec, becomes Prime Minister of Canada.
- 1993 - the Agreement of North-American free trade (ALENA) between into force.
- 1994 - After nearly 40 years of preparation, new the Civil code of Quebec between in force January first.
- 1994 - Mario Dumont and Jean Allaire leaves the Liberal party of Quebec following the rejection of the Allaire Report/ratio and founds the democratic Action of Quebec.
- 1994 - General election (Quebec): the Parti Québécois gains the majority of the seats. Jacques Parizeau becomes Prime Minister for Quebec.
- 1995 - the October 30th, a second referendum on the Souveraineté of Quebec is held. The camp of NOT obtains the majority, but this time with a very mean variation of approximately 50.000 votes. See the Referendum of 1995 in Quebec.
- 1995 - Following the defeat of the camp souverainist, Jacques Parizeau resigns of his post of Prime Minister. The chief of the Québécois Block, Lucien Bouchard, is made elect in the county of Jonquière and replaces his predecessor.
- 1996 - Flood of Saguenay: the overflow of the river Saguenay floods the area of Saguenay of the July 18th to the July 21st and devastates the area.
- 1996 - Jean-Louis Roux becomes Lieutenant-governor Quebec for a short moment, but is forced to resign when its past of partisan of a party pro-Nazi of pre-war period remakes surface.
- 1996 - Died of Robert Bourassa the October 2nd.
- 1997 - an amendment with the Constitution of Canada allows déconfessionnaliser the schools of the Système of Québécois education.
- 1998 - a storm of glaze falls down on the area of Montreal and Montérégie at the beginning of January.
- 1998 - General election (Quebec): the Québécois Party is again carried to the capacity.
- 1999 - the Loi on clearness is adopted by the Parliament of Canada.
Years 2000

2000 - Beginning of the Business Michaud on December 5th.
- 2000 - Rhéal Mathieu, a former member of the Front of release of Quebec is stopped for complicity after the fact with a damage caused by fire, at three restaurants Second Cup of Montreal. After these events, Second Cup of Quebec changed their signs for " The coffees Second Cup".
- 2001 - Considering to have failed in its efforts to bring “gaining conditions” to the behavior of a referendum, Lucien Bouchard resigns of his post of Prime Minister for Quebec and withdraws public life completely the January 11th.
- 2001 - Bernard Landry becomes Prime Minister for Quebec on March 8th.
- 2001 - In April, the town of Quebec is the host of the Sommet of Americas, event which attracts a great number of activists anti-universalization originating in a little everywhere in Americas. At the same time and at the same place, Quebec holds the third Sommet of the people of Americas.
- 2002 - the fusion of all the cities of the island of Montreal gives rise to the new méga-city of Montreal. The same phenomenon occurs with Longueuil, town of Quebec, Lévis, Saguenay, Sherbrooke and Gatineau.
- 2003 - on April 14th, the Québécois Party east demolishes by the Liberal party of Quebec, then directed by Jean Charest. The democratic Action of Quebec of Mario Dumont obtains nearly 20% of the votes.
- 2004 - 2005 - Scandal of the mixed liability companies.
- 2005 - Strike Québécois coed of 2005.
- 2006 - Creation of the interdependent left party Quebec.
- 2006 - Stephen Harper Calgary becomes Prime Minister of Canada.
- 2006 - Shooting with the college Dawson the September 13rd.
- 2006 - the House of Commons of Canada adopts a motion which recognizes that “the Inhabitants of Quebec form a nation within plain Canada”.
- 2007 - on March 26th, the Liberal party of Quebec directed by Jean Charest obtains one 2nd mandate, but this time as a minority government. While the democratic Action of Quebec of Mario Dumont becomes the Official opposition, the Québécois Party carried out sound worse score in thirty years, and finds itself in 3rd position on the Québécois political chessboard.
- 2007 - Beginning of the Bouchard-Taylor commission on the reasonable compromises.
