Chronology of the history of Quebec (1760 to 1773)

This section of the Chronology of the history of Quebec and the News-France relates to the events between the capitulation of Quebec and the adoption of the Act of Quebec with the British Parliament .
Years 1760
-
1760 - on April 28th, the French and the Canadians gain their last victory against the British during the Bataille of Holy-Foy with Quebec.
- 1760 - the Battle of Ristigouche, last fight between French and British in America, takes place on July 8th.
- 1760 - the September 8th, Montreal capitulates. The governor Pierre de Vaudreuil sign peace with the British command. See Capitulation of Montreal.
- 1763 - the Guerre Seven Year old ends with the signature of the treated of Paris the February 10th. By this treaty, the News-France is dismantled. Canada and all its dependences just as the royal Island, are confirmed to belong to the Great Britain. Louisiana, it, passed to Spain by the secret Traité of Fontainebleau in 1762. It is the end of the control of the France to the Canada.
- 1763 - Marie-Josephte Corriveau is hung for the murder of its second husband, Louis Dodier, the April 18th.
- 1763 - In May, the Amerindian chief Pontiac carries out a series of attacks against British counters.
- 1763 - With the royal Proclamation of 1763 on October 7th, Canada, heart of News-France, is famous the “Province off Quebec”.
- 1763 - James Murray becomes governor of the province of Quebec the November 21st.
- 1764 - William Brown and Thomas Gilmore publishes the first edition of the bilingual newspaper The Quebec Gazette/the Gazette of Quebec the June 21st.
- 1764 - the September 17th, of the courses civil are founded, which puts an end to the military reign of the province of Quebec.
- 1764 - British merchants ask the governor James Murray to replace the French Civil code by the British “common law” and to only found a House of Commons for the anglophone Protestants.
- 1764 - the October 29th, 94 Canadian merchants subject a first petition in which one asks that the orders of the king be available in French and that it is possible with all the Canadians to take part in the government.
- 1764 - One allows the Acadie NS in exile to on their premises turn over, in Nova Scotia.
- 1765 - the population of the province of Quebec reaches 69.810 hearts.
- 1768 - the October 26th, Guy Carleton, future baron of Dorchester, becomes governor of the province of Quebec.

1773 - In October and November, of the British merchants, supported by some Canadian merchants, send a petition to the king in whom one asks for an elective assembly.
- 1773 - In December, of the Canadian lords a petition and a report subject in which they ask that the new subjects (Canadians) obtain the same rights and preferences that the old British subjects.
