Brief chronology of the movements altermondialists

To supplement the chronology, the contributions are welcome!!!

Thank you to note: year, month, place, as well as a summarized court of the event.

The oppositions to the Mondialisation such as it is presented today seem to start in the Eighties in the countries of the South with the fight against the debt of the Tiers-monde, World Trade organization and plans of adjustment structural of the the IMF. Already theorists proposed other models of company, more specifically for the countries of the South of other development models (tendency deconnexionnist, to develop). --> and for the countries of North, the alternatives to the growth and consumption énergivores.

In the years 9O, start to be done day of the international mobilizations, which will start to be known and mediatized only starting from the mobilization against OMC in Seattle. For the Social movements, there is really before and after Seattle. The movement is recognized and, is recognized like Altermondialiste. There exists a antimondialist fraction.

Then the years 2000, with in particular the worldwide social forums, the altermondialism enters a phase of organization of meetings making it possible associations altermondialists to constitute networks, to discuss, think of alternative propositions. Representatives of ONG are invited in 2000 and 2001 with the World economic forum (Davos). The mobilizations continue with an additional claim, the opposition to the war in Iraq.

This phase shows a certain tendency to the institutionalization of structures the such social forums, jointly to the creation of networks of local movements, and also a disinterest growing of the public opinion for these theses, in particular in France which was one their cradles.

Let us recall that the Altermondialisme takes roots in the opposition to the néo-liberal Mondialisation and is still named antiglobalisation, for example in the anglophone world although this term is also disputed there.
