Chronology of the Star Wars

This article describes in the chronological order the events proceeding in the fictitious universe of the Star Wars .

Great historical periods

End of the Republic

This time is the framework of the first Trilogie: Episode I - the phantom Threat , Episode II - the Attack of the clones , Episode III - the Revenge of Sith .

The Galaxy is organized in a mode " fédéral" , the galactic Republic, controlled by a Senate. The senators, representing the various planetary systems, sit on the planet Coruscant. This political context, very complex because of the great number of people to the antagonistic needs and aspirations, is favourable with a set of alliances, treasons, plots…

The Republic fissures of any share as the dissensions degenerate into war (the Guerre of the Clones, central event of the Épisodes II and III ), opposing the Loyal supporters (faithful to the Republic) to the Séparatistes. It is the proclamation of the Empire (fine of the Épisode III ) which strikes the blow of thanks to a Republic on the decline.

Empire

This time is the framework of the second Trilogie: Épisode IV - a new hope , Episode V - the Empire counter-attacks , Épisode VI - the Return of Jedi . Compared to the calculation of the years presented below, year 0 is at the end of episode IV - a new hope, at the time of the battle of Yavin IV and the destruction of the Black Star.

Following the collapse of the Republic having succeeded the War of the Clones, the galaxy undergoes from now on the yoke of the Emperor Palpatine, assisted by powerful the Darth Vader (Dark Vador); the order of the knights Jedi was almost destroyed. Citizens and ex-senators of the old Republic entered in resistance to form the Alliance Rebels (or Rebellion).

The New Republic

After the death of the Palpatine emperor, the galaxy organizes in the form of a new Republic. That was to be the framework it third Trilogie, but this one was officially given up by George Lucas.

The history of the new republic was started by Timothy Zahn: the Heir to the Empire , the Battle of Jedi , the Ultimate Command .

Thus, the continuation of the Retour of Jedi was told in many novels and many cartoons, who form part of “the wide universe”, and from which the history extends, at present, up to 133 years after first died of the Palpatine Emperor, that is to say 137 after the battle of Yavin.

-22: Conflict of Ansion (Jedi against Separatists). Discovered armed Clone. Battle of Géonosis (Republic against Separatists). Episode II: the Attack of the clones .

Order 66: reversal of the troops clones against their Jedi officers on order of the supreme chancellor Palpatine; quasi-annihilation of the Jedi order. Proclamation of the Galactic Empire. Episode III: the Revenge of Sith .
-11: arrival of the stormtroopers on Tatooine.
Year -0: The planet Alderaan is destroyed by Black Star.
Year 0: Battle of Yavin IV. The station of combat known under the name of Black Star is destroyed. Episode IV: a new hope . Following an imperial blockade, the Rebels give up Yavin IV.
1: Battle of Taanab (inhabitants of Taanab and Lando Calrissian against pirates of space). “Wars” of the bargain hunters.
3: Battle of Hoth (Rebellious against Empire). Han Solo and Leïa Organa falls into a trap tended by Dark Vador on Bespin (Rebels against Empire). Episode V: the Empire counter-attacks .
