Christopher Hogwood

Christopher Jarvis Halley Hogwood is a Claveciniste, Leader, Musicologue and man of radio operator British, born the September 10th 1941 with Nottingham (England). He is a specialist recognized in the Baroque music.

Biography

He studied the music and the traditional literature with the Pembroke College of Cambridge, then the direction of orchestra with Raymond Leppard and Thurston Dart, then the harpsichord with Rafael Puyana and Gustav Leonhardt. British Council allocated to him a grant one year with Prague.

In 1967, Christopher Hogwood founds The Early Music Consort with David Munrow, then in 1973, the Academy off Ancient Music, together of historical instruments become quickly celebrates in the whole world.

It is thanks to that it was made known at the same time like Soliste, as instrumentalist of Chamber music and musicologist. He recorded many discs covering a very vast repertory which extends from the Virginal English ists with the traditional Vienneses. Christopher Hogwood is also the author of an important work on Haendel. He also plays of the Orgue and the Clavicorde. In April 2005, Christopher Hogwood agreed to be honorary member of the Charles Avison Society .

Its catalog of recordings counts more than 200 titles, including the first Symphonie S of Mozart on historical instruments.

Its writings were translated into French, German, Italian, Spanish and Japanese. He collaborates with the university of Pembroke, the Université of Cambridge, and the Université of Harvard.
