Christopher Dodd
Christopher John Dodd (born in 1944), is an American politician, democratic senator of the Connecticut to the Sénat of the United States since 1981.
Candidate with the democratic candidature for the presidential election of 2008.
Biography
Dodd was born the May 27th 1944 in Willimantic in Connecticut. He is the son of the former senator of Connecticut, Thomas J. Dodd.
Graduate in English literature in 1966, Dodd enlisted in the volunteers of the forces of peace (Peace Corps) and was useful in Dominican Republic until in 1968.
He joined then the American army of reserve until in 1975.
In 1972, it is graduate in right of the Université of Louisville and is allowed the year according to with the bar of Connecticut with New London.
Of 1975 with 1981, Dodd is elected with the Chambre of the Representatives of the United States for the 2nd district of Connecticut.
In November 1980, Dodd is elected Democratic senator of Connecticut to the federal congress, with the occupied seat of 1953 with 1963 by Prescott Bush, the paternal grandfather of George W. Bush. Dodd will be re-elected with this seat in 1986, 1992, and 1998. In 2004, it is re-elected with 66% of the voices against the republican Jack Orchulli.
Of 1995 with 1997, he is the president of the Democratic National committee and its door word.
Catholic, bilingual English-Spanish, Dodd lives East Haddam with his wife Jackie Marie Clegg. They have a girl.
Dodd declared candidate with democratic investituture for the presidential elections of 2008.
