Christophe Willem

Christophe Willem , of his true name Christophe Durier , born the August 3rd 1983 with Enghien-the-Baths, is a Chanteur French, revealed by the emission Nouvelle Star in 2006.

Biography

Childhood and beginnings in the music

Born the August 3rd 1983 with Enghien-the-Baths, Christophe Durier passes most of its life to Mourning-the-Bars (Val-d'Oise), where his/her parents hold a driving school. Child, it follows courses of Piano from 7 to 14 years then devotes himself to the song Jazz during 3 years, and then to the Gospel and Blues during 2 years.

Initially decided to follow studies to become professor of economy and management, it continues however to practice the song and the music, in particular in a choral society of gospel where it is noticed to take part in the film Alive (left in 2004) in with dimensions of Richard Anconina and Maxim Nucci. 21 years old, it plays the part of Henri there. After this film, there is no continuation for Christophe. He then continues his studies in License of communication to the Université of Paris VIII, while making odd jobs.

The Nouvelle Star

It is in November 2005 which it tries the adventure of the Nouvelle Star by chance. Indeed, it is his/her sister who registers it with the casting of Toulouse, after having noted that the casting of Paris was complete. Christophe had not prepared anything and revised his courses surrounded people singing, repeating choreographies. Labelled number “15.000”, it is in total improvisation that it will impress the Jury by interpreting Strong enough Des' ree.

During the first emission on line, it is shown at ease in its interpretation of Sunny and settles as the nail of the evening during the nine direct following (where he is systematically the last candidate to be passed).

At the end of the ten weeks of the television game, it is indicated “Nouvelle Star 2006” vis-a-vis the finalist Miss Dominique.

Musical career

After the Nouvelle Star, Christophe becomes Christophe Willem (a name seems it already used in the credits of the film Alive). He would have chosen his name of artist in reference to the first name William , that his/her parents had failed to give him. He would have also hesitated to take as name of artist “Willem C”.

The press will emphasize much its friendship with the singer Jennifer, met on the turning of Alive , the latter being the partner of the hero of film. Christophe will have been supported much by this one in the media. Its universe is close to the jazz, blues and folk: its influences go from Des' ree to Morcheeba while passing by Portishead.

For its first album, Inventory , left the April 16th 2007, it collaborated, amongst other things, with Philippe Katerine, Zazie, Bertrand Burgalat or Valerie Lemercier. A round with closed counters with the Bataclan will take place in November 2007. Christophe will also occur with the Olympia February 14th, 15th and 16th 2008 like with the Cicada. This first round “Inventory” of 46 dates, between on November 15th, 2007 and on March 26th, 2008, will also pass by the Belgium and the Suisse.

Élu produced of the year is the individual first extracts from the album Inventaire ; he was proposed with the radios on February 28th, 2007. Christophe, would not have chosen this title like first individual to him, moreover the recording company gives up a commercial exit and extracts another title from the album, Double I , which leaves in May 2007. This title is downloaded the most as of the week from April 15th to 21st. Inventaire has just been certified Double disc of platinum with more than 500.000 sold specimens! whereas individual the Double I pass very close to already the disc of money with a little less than 100.000 specimens run out in 3 weeks! At the beginning, it is true, I like to sing Soul. But just after emission, when I listened to the already ready songs that one proposed to me, I realized that in French, this style became catastrophic.
