Christophe Soglo

Christophe Soglo (1909 - 1983) was a soldier Bénin ois who became a major political personality of his country in the years 1960.

After the independence of Benign in 1960, Soglo became Colonel in the army then Minister for the president Hubert Maga. In October 1963, Soglo reversed the government and establishes a provisional government with itself at its head. Then it gave up the capacity next in January and made it possible the former Prime Minister Sourou Migan Apithy to become president. But Soglo estimated soon that the policy followed by Apithy was condemnable, and there reversed the government in November 1965 again to remain president of Benign the until 1967, when a young group of officers reversed it in his turn. Soglo was withdrawn then from the policy.
