Christoph Metzelder
Christoph Metzelder is a Football German or born the November 5th 1980 with Haltern.
This defender trained at the origin with Schalke 04 sign in 2000 for the Borussia Dortmund and acquires a certain reputation rather quickly. Its power, its speed and its play of head enable him to take down a place in national team of Germany for the World cup 2002. The wounds of Jens Nowotny and Christian Wörns (his fellow-member of Borussia) will help it to be essential like holder. In spite of its young age (21 years), it appears like one of the best defenders of the tournament. The Mannschaft will fail nevertheless finally against the Brésil 2-0.
Announced like one of the greatest German hopes, it is however long in confirming its talent because of a very serious wound to the tendon of Achilles. It makes even a white season into 2003/2004 and one almost considers it lost for football.
It however succeeds in returning in 2005 and being essential again like central defender in national selection for the World cup 2006. It is illustrated there at the sides of Per Mertesacker by obtaining the third place of the tournament, against the Portugal.
Career
At the end of the contract with Borussia, it signs in May 2007 for one of the largest club of the world: for 4 years and 4 million euros. It is officially presented in its new club on July 11th, 2007.
