Christmas on the mount Ours is a history in Cartoon of Carl Barks, published in December 1947. She makes meet for the first time Donald and her uncle Balthazar Picsou.

Synopsis

Donald does not have, like often, enough of money to celebrate Christmas with his nephews, Riri, Fifi and Loulou. He receives an invitation of his uncle Picsou, who saw reclu in his manor since years: he proposes to offer a gift to his nephew if he passes the midnight supper in a country cottage.

Picsou wants to test the courage of Donald: disguised in Brown bear, he wants to frighten it. But already, a mother bear and her small penetrated in the country cottage.

First appearance of Picsou

The starting point is traditional enough for a history of Donald and its nephews at the time: recurring and permanent financial problems.

The innovation of this history is creation by Carl Barks of this uncle richissime who will become an important character of the universe of Donald Duck. Already, in a cartoon film, a Scottish duck had appeared vis-a-vis Donald. Here, it takes a name: Scrooge McDuck . Scrooge like the old miserly one of the Tale of Christmas of Charles Dickens and McDuck to point out its Scottish origin. He is famous richissime, but only saw since years (possible inspiration of the film Citizen Kane of Orson Welles where the hero finishes his recluse days in his manor). As of the second history putting it in scene ( the Secrecy of the old castle ), Picsou will be equipped with a family past and an adventurous topic: hunting for the treasures accompanied by its nephews.

A history used by Gift Rosa

According to Gift Rosa, the adventures of Picsou that Barks wrote unroll starting from this Christmas 1947. To close its biography of Picsou, the Youth of Picsou , it rewrites the meeting between Picsou and its nephews in the richest Duck of the world .

This final chapter of Youth proceeds the shortly after the midnight supper to the Ours mount, when Donald and his nephews go to the residence of Picsou, introducing an unusual family heat into this one, like Rapetou.

The vision of Gift Rosa, rich person of the whole of the stories of Picsou drawn after 1947 by Barks, gives darker Christmas at the beginning, but which makes it possible to introduce this character into the universe of Donald.
