Christmas of Hercule Poirot
Christmas of Hercule Poirot ( Hercules Poirot' S Christmas in the anglophone original editions) is a novel written by Agatha Christie, published in 1938, putting in scene the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot.
The novel is divided into seven parts, each one divided into chapters: the first part tells the day of December 22nd, until the seventh which tells that of the 28 and thus, the murder occurs for the period from Christmas, whom Agatha Christie liked to pass to Abney Hall, the manor of the family of James Watts, married with the sister of Agatha.
Summary
For the first time for 20 years, the old man Simeon Lee has decided to bring together all his children for the festival of Christmas. December 24th at the evening, one finds it assassinated wildly in his room. Everyone hated this cynical old man: Alfred and his wife for the tyranny which he exerted on their couple, David for humiliations of which he watered his mother, George for the revenue too relatively low with its taste, Harry for the contempt in which he holds it. And then there is this mysterious Mr. Farr who comes from South Africa. And did the young person Pilar, the Spanish grand-daughter, declare only if it had an enemy, it would not hesitate to slice the throat to him? Really, the Simeon old man should not have made share in front of everyone of his intention to modify his will, it should not have made this hateful scene with his brought together children, it should not either have made display in front of Pilar of his diamonds…
