Christmas-Christmas
Of its true name Lucien Christmas , Christmas-Christmas is a Acteur French born with Paris the August 9th 1897, died with Nice the October 4th 1989.
Born with Paris, wire of a boy of receipt to the Banque de France, it makes its studies with the Turgot college. He learns the piano. In 1914, it is bank clerk, before being mobilized in 1916. Of return to the civil life, he becomes cartoonist in particular with the Canard Enchaîné, while trying to occur as chansonnier since 1920.
He begins with the Noctambules by being accompanied itself with the piano; He then passes to the Magpie which sings . As from 1927, it takes part in the reviews of the Théâtre of Ten-Hours : Ah! the good hour (1927), It is the exquisite hour (1928)…
Christmas-Christmas at that time does not cease writing and composing: the new hat , the burial , To remember childhood , soup with Toto , the New Year's gifts … It records these songs which illustrate the small facts of the daily life, in 1931 for the Odéon firm.
With the prison in madness (Henry Wulschleger, 1930), it begins a career of actor to the cinema. It is found, inter alia, in Mistigri (Harry Lachman, 1931), Mr Albert (Karl Anton, 1932), innocent the (Maurice Cammage, 1937), of which he is the Co-scenario writer. On the dry land (Pierre-Jean Ducis, 1940) of which he is scenario writer.
Paul Hill, chansonnier and scenario writer, entrusts the role of Adémaï Joseph, small farmer naive and crafty one, victim of innumerable mishaps to him which it incarnates in four films:
- Adémaï and the Nation armed (1932)
- Adémaï aviator (1934)
- Adémaï with the Means Âg E (1935)
- Adémaï gangster with honor (1943)
However, in the last shutter Adémaï with the frontier post (1949), the character is incarnated by Paul Colline itself.
He becomes a high-speed motorboat and more rarely occurs on scene. However, it passes to a.B.C . , each end of the year as from 1934. From October 1938 to the war, it animates an emission on Radio-City at the side of Saint-Granier. It continues to occur on scene during the occupation, with a.B.C. (October 1940), with European (December 1940), with the Theater of Ten-Hours (May 1941), with the Star (May 1943). It is then prohibited by the Nazis after having sung Vaches of boiches" ".
In 1945, it holds the role of Clement Matthieu in the Cage with the nightingales , in addition to taking part in the scenario and the dialogs.
Its greater role is undoubtedly that which it held in the quiet Father (1946), where it plays the part of one Average Frenchman, apparently egoistic man especially worried by its orchises, in fact chief of a resistance network. This film makes it possible Christmas-Christmas to give up for some time the comic roles, but it returns there very quickly, in particular with the Bores (1948).
In 1950, it carries out the sung life , film in which it interprets its successes: the Poles , awkward the , the departures , Marriage society man , the razor of the hairdresser .
Among great successes of audience, it is necessary to note With foot, horse and in the car (1957), film which will be followed one year later by To foot, horse and out of Sputnik , whose Christmas-Christmas will be the scenario writer (it had already taken part in the realization of the quiet Père ).
He still plays in the pen-pushers (1959), then in " Old men of Vieille" , film in which it divides the poster with Jean Gabin and Pierre Fresnais, and where it camps a formidable character, full with mischievousness and tenderness. He gives up then little by little the screen. He tries his chance like realizer in 1971 with the Traveller of the Centuries , film whose intrigue is based on a machine to go up time.
Thereafter, Christmas-Christmas moves away from the cinema, living a quiet old age in Nice, where it dies out on October 4th, 1989.
He contributed to the creation of the Festival of Confolens, festival of arts and popular traditions of the world. In remembering him, the town of Confolens allotted to him the name of one of its colleges (of alive sound).
