Work and standpoint

Christiane Taubira gave her name to the French law, voted the May 10th 2001, which recognizes like crimes against humanity the treats transatlantic négrière and the Esclavage which resulted from it. Criticisms exist on this law, mainly on behalf of the historians, who criticize the fact that it limits slavery to the European draft of the Blacks, which is reducing. If Christiane Taubira spoke about the collaboration of the African ethnos groups to the Atlantic draft but not of the military pressures of Europeans exerted on these ethnos groups.

She is frequently regarded by the policies as a “free electron”, because of her personal standpoint entering little a logic of party.

Contrary to the PS and the PRG she is opposed in 2004 to the vote of the French Loi on the religious signs in the public schools considering that “To make legislative work rather than teaching mission, it is to lose faith in Republic, whereas the grounds are carefully avoided where the tensions fraughtest with direction in the ethical confrontation are tied. ”

In 2005, it gives an opinion for “Not” at the time of the French Référendum on the European constitution, contrary to the PRG, of which it is at the time still vice-president.
