Christian woman-social union in Bavaria
The Christian woman-social Union in Bavaria () is a German political party of center-right which acts exclusively as Bavaria, while its sister party, the Union Christian Democrat (CDU) operates in the remainder of the country; the co-operation of the two bets in the federal plan is called CDU/CSU. With the international level, it is member of the international democratic Union.
The CSU introduced candidates apart from Bavaria on only one occasion, in 1957, at the time of elections in the Land of the Saar. The elected officials and the section of the Saar of the CSU then joined CDU.
The CSU practically controls the government of the Land since its origin, and most of the time without recourse to a coalition. This level of domination is exceptional in Germany of the post-war period, only the social democrat Parti having done better by preserving the capacity without interruption since 1945 in the city-State Bremen.
At the federal level, with the the Bundestag and the Government, the CSU is constituted in formation with CDU.
Franz Josef Strauß (1915-1988) is regarded as the ideologist and the inspirer of the party.
