Christian Rosenkreutz
Christian Rosenkreutz or Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood (“the Christian in the Rose and the Cross”) is the mythical founder of the Rosicrucian brotherhood. For this reason, it is at the origin of the history and the teaching of the rosicrucians. From German nationality, it would have been born in 1378 and dies in 1484.
The first to make mention of it was Johann Valentine Andreae in the chymic Noces of Christian Rosenkreutz in 1616. This text constitutes the third proclamation rosicrucian, does not contain biographical elements, but is mainly centered on the Alchimie and the knowledge of the interior man.
The points of view and opinions on the existence or the nature of Christian Rosenkreutz differ.
Point of view of university criticism
According to academic works, Rosenkreutz would be a mythical character invented by the authors of proclamations, and taking as a starting point the lives and works of the Christian mystics Joachim de Flore and Thomas A. Kempis
Point of view of Spencer Lewis
According to Spencer Lewis, and the AMORC, the opening of the tomb of Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood would express the resurgence of the Order after one idle period 108 years. For the AMORC, the character of Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood, or Christian Rosenkreutz, is an allegory. Indeed, the Order would have been created, not by a bearing initiate this reference symbol, but by an initiatory company of Mysteries organized by the Pharaon Thoutmôsis III. This Pharaon would have gathered the existing schools of mysteries within the same entity, 3500 years ago.
Point of view of Mrs. Blavatsky
According to the Glossary theosophic, the name was initially given to the disciples of a Adepte scientist named Christian Rosenkreutz, who flowered in Germany about 1640. It founded an Order made up of mystical students whose history of its beginning can be found in the German work, Fama Fraternitatis (1614), which was published in several languages.
Point of view of Rudolf Steiner
According to Rudolf Steiner, Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood lived in XIIIe century. A community of twelve initiated brothers who gathered in their center, all the knowledge acquired since the old and mythical eras by which humanity until our days would have passed constituted around Rosenkreutz. These twelve brothers, conscious of the size of Christianity, initiated Rosenkreutz which thus joins together in him the twelve currents of wisdom of which they were the carriers. Initiation transformed its heart completely. In it lived like a rebirth of these twelve wisdoms revivified by the Christ. Rosenkreuz died little of time afterwards. From the point of view occults, says Steiner, the fruit of the initiation of thirteenth was preserved in the spiritual atmosphere of the Earth, like element remaining of the body etheric. This will have etheric will adombra and inspired the twelve, like their disciples, who then gave rise to the occult current of the Rosicrucian brotherhood. As for this body etheric it continued to act, and it penetrated in the body etheric of thirteenth when it réincarna about the middle of XIVe century. Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood lived then more than one hundred years. He was of German nationality from where its German name “Rosenkreutz”. He was high in the circle of the disciples and the successors of the twelve. At twenty-eight years, he travelled and left Europe. He went initially towards Damas, and made an experiment illuminatrice similar to that of Paul de Tarse, owing to the fact that the forces of the body etheric of the individuality of XIIIe had preserved all their strength. He shone and radiated starting from the spiritual world on the individuality of XIVe century. It is only starting from this incarnation that it was named Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood. Although from a point of view esoteric, in the direction it occults is already Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood in XIIIe century. They are its disciples, the successors of the twelve of XIIIe century, who are Rose-Croix.Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood traversed everyone then known. After having received the wisdom of the twelve fertilized by the being of Christ, it was easy for him to assimilate in the seven years space all the Science of its time. After seven years, it returned to Europe and took for the most advanced pupils of the disciples and successors of the twelve and it then inaugurated the true work of the Rosicrucian brotherhood. It is into 1604 that one locates the exoteric emergence of the Rosicrucian brotherhood, that occurred 120 years after death from Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood (1378-1484). It is at that time that started to circulate under the coat the proclamations rosicrucians and particularly the Fama Fraternitatis and the Confessio Fraternitatis , this before the official publication of these Proclamations.
In “Fama Fraternitatis”, it is specified that the Rosicrucian brotherhood successors of Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood discovered his tomb in 1604. On the top of the door was indicated in great characters, - “I will open in 120 years” .
Point of view of max Heindel
Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood is an instructor of a high spirituality, having appeared at the 13th century; He would have founded the mysterious order of the Rosicrucian brotherhood, presented like a “School of the Mysteries”, in order to link in a coherent system the alive beauty of spiritual and art with the gradually dominant force of the exact disciplines. He would constantly have réincarné himself in Europe, at various places of Europe, and there existed at time when Heindel wrote its major work, the “Cosmogonie of the “Rosicrucian brotherhood”. Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood would be the inspirer, as a spiritual force, of works of Francis Bacon, Jakob Böhme, etc, but one perceives his influence in works of Wagner (the opera Parsifal) and of Goethe, inter alia. Without the knowledge many men seeking in a sincere way behind appearance of the things, draw and forces and courage, in the character who bore the reference symbol of Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood.-
max Heindel and Rudolf Steiner agrees to see in enigmatic the Count of Saint-Germain, courtier, adventurer and alchemist (death 27 02 1784) an incarnation of Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood.
Point of view of Jan van Rijckenborgh
Lectorium Roscrucianum takes again almost entirely on its account the texts of Steiner and the opinion of max Heindel on the founder of the “Rosicrucian brotherhood”. “Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood” would be a prototype to be it accomplished according to the spirit, the heart and the body, a regenerated being. He would work directly as a concentrated spiritual force, while acting within his temples which they name “Fire”. The role of the rosicrucians would consist in instigating the forces of the body etheric of Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood and transmuting them into a body of initiation accessible to all. According to Jan van Rijckenborgh, the current rosicrucian would have joined closely the Cathares, without influencing their doctrines or their rites of outside, which would make it possible to make go up the history roscicrucian at the 13th century. Thereafter, a certain influence would have perduré by the Templiers and more especially all that was at the origin of the search of the Saint Graal as well as texts referring there. In fact, Cathares, Graal, and Crosses with the Pinks are regarded as three dimensions of the same eternal search achieving themselves through the centuries, and being currently expressed in “Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood”. - " Christian Rosicrucian brotherhood is one of the great figures behind which the Chain is held of very whole universal Fraternity. Each one can enter its House, the true Residence of the Holy Spirit; such is the message in all its force (...) the last word in this world is in Christian Rose-Croix".
Point of view of Maurice Magre
According to Maurice Magre (1877-1941) in his book “Magicians and enlightened”, Christian Rosenkreutz would be the last one going down from the “Germelshausen”, a noble family whose origin went back to the century and who had embraced the faith cathare. Their castle was in the state of Thuringe in the middle of a forest. All the family was assassinated by the Landgrave Conrad von Thuringen except for youngest wire, who, at the time, was 5 years old. The Germelshausen young person was carried secretly by a monk in country Albigensian, from where it accepted his education with four other brothers whom it associated with the later creation of the Rosicrucian brotherhood. This account concerns the Oral tradition which links sometimes Rosicrucian brotherhood and Catharisme.
