Christian Metz
Christian Metz (1931 - 1993) is a theorist French of the Sémiologie of the Cinéma of international notoriety.
Its work is a source of richness and diversity for the French theory of the cinema.
Christian Metz taught with the École of the high studies in social sciences (EHESS).
In 1964, it publishes the article " The cinema, language or language? " in the review Communications and its Essai S during 25 years continues with: Tests on the significance with the cinema (1968 and 1973), Language and Cinéma (1971), the Tests semiotics (1977), Meaning it imaginary (1977).
Christian Metz based his semiological project of the cinema on the Structuralisme Linguistique, then on the Psychanalyse of Lacan. He is recognized inter alia for his large syntagmatic.
Its work was criticized by Jean Mitry in his work semiology in question (1987), and with virulence by Jean-François Tarnowski in the review Positif.
