Christian Fittipaldi

Christian Fittipaldi is a racing driver Brésil IEN born the January 18th 1971 with Sao Paulo (Brésil).

Biography

Wire of Wilson Fittipaldi (modest pilot of Formula 1 of the years 1970 and founder of the stable Copersucar-Fittipaldi) and nephew of Emerson Fittipaldi (double champion of the world of Formula 1 in 1972 and 1974), Christian Fittipaldi begins his career by karting. Champion sudaméricain of Formula 3 in 1990, then champion of F3000 in 1991, it reaches Formula 1 in 1992 in the modest stable Minardi.

Its first season in the discipline queen is marked by a serious accident with the GP of France which leaves it several weeks out of the GP. It carries out at the end of the year nevertheless a brilliance return by marking its first points to the GP of Japan. Always at Minardi in 1993, it carries out a beautiful beginning of the season (4th in South Africa and 5th in Monaco) before its relationship with its team is not degraded with the wire of the year, which is worth to him not to finish the championship. This season 1993 moreover is marked by its GP of Italy, where it crosses the finishing line on three wheels after having carried out a spectacular loop, consequence of a fixing with its fellow-member Pierluigi Martini. In 1994, Fittipaldi finds refuge in the stable Footwork, but in spite of two 4th place (in Aida and Hockenheim), it does not manage to attract the eye of a large stable, and prefers to make rebound its career in the championship CART, where it finds his uncle Emerson, genuine star in the United States.

Christian highlights himself as of his beginnings in the discipline. Second of the 500 Miles of Indianapolis 1995, it sees himself decreed the trophy of best beginning from the year of the test. The continuation is however more delicate for Christian, who will show a remarkable regularity to the more high level during several years, but without never seeming one of the tenors of the discipline in spite of some victories.

At the end of 2002, Fittipaldi decides to leave the CART to try its chance in the tests of stock car, that it is in ARCA or Nascar (Busch Series and Winston Cup). Integrated in 2003 into the stable of Richard Petty, Fittipaldi however will disappoint. At the end of one only year without notable results, he is thanked.

Since, Fittipaldi was reconverted into the tests of North-American Endurance (in 2004, it gained the 24 hours of Daytona) and is gone back to Brazil to dispute there the local championship of private car. In 2006, it also carried out a return to the single-seater since it disputed on behalf of the team of Brazil several tests of the championship A1 Grand Prix 2005-2006.
