Christian Calon

Christian Calon (September 5th 1950, Marseilles, France) is a type-setter of Musique electroacoustic resident with Montreal, Canada.

The architectural dimension of the sound and a reflection on the narrative processes represents the principal orientations of my current musical work. It develops the ideas of Time, presence and transformation. My œ recent works, through various forms such as the space sound installation, the œ acousmatic work or radiophonic creation, is bound by a common exploration of the methods of audible and listening. With C œ ur of this reflection, I conceive today space like an essential passage to tackle the key question of Time. Working in Europe since 1990, I assumed, as from 1991, the musical responsibility for the Group of experimental music of Marseilles (GMEM, France). In 1995, I was one of the foreign artists in residence in Berlin thanks to an invitation of DAAD (Germany). Since, alive in this city as independent artist, I carried out the œ following works: The Standing Man (1994-96), installation-performance for three-dimensional sound spaces (24 ways of projection), on a poem of François Villon; Die Zimmer der Erinnerung rooms of the memory (rooms of the memory) (1997), radiophonic test-fiction (hörspiel) according to Marcel Proust (DeutschlandRadio) and the project Ulysses (1997-2001) for multitrack voices and projections. Regularly, my œ works was rewarded at the time of international competitions (Italy, the United States, France, Austria, Germany) and my current work was honoured by the Price Lynch-Staunton (Canada).

The compact disk Life line: electric accounts (digital fingerprints, IMED 9001) is devoted to my music which also appears in compilations: Electro clips (digital fingerprints, IMED 9004, IMED 9604), Anthology of the Canadian music: music electroacoustic (Radio operator International Canada, AMC 37), DISContact!
