Christian Bourgois
Christian Bourgois (Antibes, 1933) is a editor French, owner of the publisher of the same name.
After its studies with the Institute of political studies of Paris (1951 - 1954), it enters to the National school of administration, of which it resigns in May 1959 to work in the publisher of Rene Julliard, met in 1954. With died of Julliard in July 1962, it takes the direction of the editions Julliard repurchased soon by the Presses of the City. In 1966, in narrow partnership with Dominique Russet-red, it founds its own publisher, Christian Bourgois Editeur. It directs the collection 10/18 between 1968 and 1992.
In 1992, Christian Bourgois leaves the group of the Presses of the City and takes again its independence. Since 1995, Christian Bourgois is president of the Institut reports of the contemporary edition (IMEC) located at Caen.
It contributed to make discover many foreign writers, in particular Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Alexandre Soljenitsyne, William S. Burroughs, Jim Harrison, Antonio Lobo Antunes and Antonio Tabucchi. In 1989, it publishes the satanic Versets of Salman Rushdie. He is also the editor of two Bestsellers: Boris Vian and J.R.R. Tolkien.
