Christian Bobin

Christian Bobin , writer and poet French, was born from a father draftsman with the Schneider factory and from a calqueuse mother, the April 24th 1951 with the Creusot in Burgundy, Saône-et-Loire where it remains.

Biography

It was of these children in the courses of recreation, those which are put aside, which looks at the others; it was solitary and liked the company of the books. About its years of childhood he will say: “ I would be unable to make accounts of childhood. I wonder how these books are made. I feel disabled person in front of that. And to worsen the things, I have the impression to have a memory almost destroyed of all that. I forgot the entirety of the names. I remember neither the names of the teachers, nor of those of the friends or comrades. I had some of them. There remain to me vaguely some faces like that, a little wandering. This lapse of memory swallowed almost 20 years of my life. Because that continues afterwards. I do not have to remember the years of college ”, and about the school he answers: “ What appears to me most unbearable - and it is also what our company does - it is that the school separated me from myself. It was not person, but of myself, in the vagrancy of the hours, moods. It was that of which I was separate ”.

After having followed studies of philosophy, he works for the public library of Autun, in Écomusée of the Creusot and becomes writer with the review Milieux .

Its first texts, characterized by their brevity, date from the years 1980. They are published in the editions Brandes , Paroles of Paddle , Time that it makes , at Theodore Balmoral , and especially at Fata Morgana (where it publishes in particular the particularly poetic Lettres of gold ).

As of the end of the year 1980, its books are alternatively published at Fata Morgana and Gallimard, then in alternation with Gallimard with the editions Time that it makes.

Christian Bobin is at ease in what it calls the “ fragment ”, its works holding at the same time or separately Romance , Journal and Poésie in prose. It is a writing minimalist, made small one moment tables representative. He manages to touch the reader with simple words, among which that of light often returns, to found a climate alleviated and serene far from the violence of the daily newspaper.

Being a broad success to leave in particular a small dress of festival (1991), there remains a rather discrete author, “ in love with silence and pinks ”. “ My life ”, writes it in Louise Amour , “had occurred in the books, far from the world, and I had, without the knowledge, done with my readings what the birds by instinct do with the naked branches of the trees: they notch them and triturate them until detaching from it a brushwood tied soon with others to compose their nest ”.

In 1992, Bobin meets a great success, thanks to a book devoted to holy François d' Assise: Très-Bas , Price of the Two Nest eggs in 1993 and catholic Grand Prix of literature. It publishes in 1996 more than sharp , homage paid to his Ghislaine friend, died at 44 years of an aneurysmal rupture. Christian Bobin also prefaced or postface some works, in particular two books of Patrick Renou: Sorianoda (account), Postface of Christian Bobin, Editions of the Take-off, 1992; You hear me? (account), Foreword of Christian Bobin, Deyrolle Editions, 1994 (rééd. Verdier).

He published in 2007 the white Lady , at Gallimard.

Extracts

  • men? Not, I do not see them. And fathers even less. And husbands at all. It is like that: I can see only the women and the children. To see a little this life, it is necessary to start by forgetting much of it” ( Autoportrait with the radiator , page 28).

" I have during one year returned visit with my father in the house where its memory day after day narrowed like a mist on glass, with the touch of the sun. He always did not recognize me and that did not have importance. I knew well, me, that he was my father. He could allow himself to forget it. There is sometimes between 2 people a bond so major that it continues to live even when one of both cannot any more see it. " " Resssusciter ", 2001

" I am one day entered a bond where each word of the one was collected without fault by the other. The same applied to each silence. It was not this fusion which the lovers at their beginnings know and which is an unreal and destroying state. There was in the amplitude of this bond something of musical and were we all there at the same time together and separate, like the two diaphanous wings of a dragonfly. To have known this plenitude, I know that the love has nothing to do with the sentimentality which trails in the songs and which it is not either side of the sexuality whose world makes its goods first that which makes it possible to sell all the others. The love is the miracle to be one day heard until in our silences, and to hear in return with same delicacy: the life in a pure state, as fine as the air which supports the wings of the dragonflies and is delighted by their dance. " " Ressusciter", 2001

" an intelligence without kindness is like a silk costume carried by a corpse. "
