Christa Stubnick

Christa Stubnick , born Seliger the December 12th 1933 with Gardelegen (Saxony-Anhalt) and married Fischer , is a German Athlète . It gained two money medals to the Olympic Games of summer of 1956.

Biography

It began the athletics in 1950. As from 1952, it was involved with the Potsdam Dynamo where its trainer max Schommler made it become the first of large sprinteuses East-German. In 1954, it missed the championships of Europe because the East-German federation of athletics was not recognized yet.

It took share with the Olympic Games of summer of 1956 for East Germany within the team unified of Germany. On 100 m, it were classified second, gaining the money between the two Australia born Betty Cuthbert (gold) and Marlene Mathews (bronzes). On 200 m, it obtained the money again, still beaten by Betty Cuthbert and preceding Marlene Mathews. With the relay 4 X 100 m, it took the sixth rank.

With the championships of Europe of 1958, it gained bronze over 100 m, beaten by the Britannique Heather Young and the Soviet Vera Krepkina and finished fifth on 200 Mr.

Christa Stubnick beat several records since 1953. Most spectacular was its time of 23" 6 out of 200 m which enabled him to equalize the record of 19 years old Europe of the Polonaise Stanislawa Walasiewicz.
