Chris Squire

Christopher Russell Edward Squire (born the March 4th 1948), more known under the name of Chris Squire , is the bass player founder of the progressive rock group Yes, in which it is also second voice. Yes carried out its 1st album in 1969 and although the group knew many change of personnel, Squire remains the only member of origin of the group not to have left it.

Biography

Born in Kingsbury, suburbs of the North-East of London, in England, it sang child in the choral society of the local church. In 1964, it was returned school because of its long hair. One summoned it to cut them. It returned at his place, and turned over never again to the school.

In the years 1960, Squire tried out the LSD much, until a bad trip. It remembers to have spent the months in the apartment of his boyfriend, incompetent to leave it, and it is at that time that it learned how to play of low. He cures of his trip and the Jura not to take more of acid.

The play of Squire is known to be aggressive, dynamic and melody. Squire was also member of XYZ (eX-Yes/Zeppelin) in 1981, a group made up of Alan White, beater of Yes, and Jimmy Page, guitarist of Led Zeppelin. XYZ recorded several demonstration in the personal studio of Squire but does not produce anything official. However two of these demonstration provided the bases of two later pieces of Yes, " Mind Drive" and " Does Can You Imagine? ". Squire played also a big role while making contribute the guitarist Trevor Rabin to the Cinema group, which became the formation of the album 90125 . From the last formation of Yes was born a solid friendship between Chris Squire and Billy Sherwood, young guitarist. Together, they founded a group called Conspiracy which left an album éponyme in a 2000 then album in 2002 heading The Unknown , which treats in a metaphorical way of the events of September 11th. It then integrated in 2003 the reformation of The Syn , its first group. Since May 2006, Chris Squire left The Syn and is officially without group.

On its official site, it is announced that Chris Squire currently works on a new album solo which should appear from here the end of the year 2007. Chris Squire is called Fish (Poisson) for several reasons, first of all because of its astrological sign; born one March 4th, it is thus sign of Poisson. By taking a shower, it also accidentally flooded a hotel room in Oslo in Norway at the time of the first round of the group, Bill Bruford would have given him this nickname. And finally, it had the reputation to spend much time in the bath-tub. This nickname off finds in the title of its album solo Fish Out Toilets (the fish out of water, i.e. Squire apart from Yes) and in a basic solo on the album Fragile entitled " The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus) ".
