Chris Colorado

Chris Colorado is a Televised series of French animation in 26 26 minutes episodes, created by Thibaut Chatel, Franck Bertrand and Jacqueline Monsigny, and diffused starting from the December 18th 2000 on Canal+ in the emission Décode not Bunny and repeated on France 3 in the emission Minikeums . In Belgium, the series was diffused on Club RTL. With the Quebec, the series is diffused on VRAK.TV.

Synopsis

In an post-apocalyptic future , an young man, Chris Colorado, puts at the service " Mondiale" federation; , which gathers the survivors of the Grand Crash landing , and more particularly, under the orders its commander, Richard Julian . He fights against the mysterious group 666 , the thanors and their supreme leader, the Large Guard Thanatos . But it is also in the search of its past, through the secrecies, treasons, as well as members of its family who, according to the official version, would have disappeared in an air crash…

Context

The history is in a world having undergoes the Large Crash landing : a Météorite was crushed on Earth and almost destroyed the totality of the life on Ground. On these ruins of a world passed, where the nuclear energy of uranium does not exist any more because of the meteorite, the survivors try to rebuild their lives. Little by little, the cities are rebuilt, but a new threat emerges. A mysterious dictator, Thanatos , with the head of an army as of his faithful ones, the thanors , tries to take the control of the world.

A group of combatants, the centurions of freedom , carried out by some Richard Julian' is formed to fight against Thanors. With the wire of time Richard Julian and his centurions succeed in thwarting its plans, in spite of the loss of some of his/her companions, and founding the World Fédération , placing the new capital of the world with Chichén Itzá, close to the new magnetic pole. Overcome, taken refuge in the closed area , ruins of the one of the largest cities of the old world where one of the largest fragments of the meteorite was crushed, Thanatos continues its war against the World Federation and Richard Julian.

It is in this context that Chris Colorado, young man sporting and intelligent, succeeds in saving one day Richard Julian of a trap of Thanors. Ignoramus of whom it acts, Richard Julian orders an investigation into this mysterious boy, to discover that it is about the former captain Christopher Krantz , excluded from the army after being shown of flight of secret plans, wire of William-Erwin Krantz , former major of the Centurions of Freedom charged to infiltrate the camp of Thanatos, ever reappeared since, and that much regards as a treacherous .

Richard Julian wishes to recruit it to assign confidential missions to him. Initially reticent, Chris ended up accepting, the search of the truth and curiosity overriding mistrust screw-with screw of the army which humiliated it. This will involve Chris Colorado in dangerous adventures where various meetings will reveal the truth to him on its family.

  • Chris Colorado : of its true name Christopher Krantz. The hero of the history is one of the best pilots in the world. Moreover, it is a fantastic expert in martial arts and which has a Master off science. He is also grouser, even coleric, and has a panic fear of the Rat S (perhaps an allusion to Indiana Jones ). Shining and popular captain of army of the World Federation, it was erased army five years earlier shown to have concealed secret plans. Since, he is recluse in the house of his grandfather Sam Colorado, lost at the bottom of the Large Canyon of the Colorado. Caught up with by its past, he becomes the henchman of the Julian Commander while trying to discover the truth on his family.

  • Chippowok : this apache of the tribe of the Hopis is the friend of childhood and the guard of Chris Colorado. Originating in a village located on the heights of the Large Canyon, not very far from the house of Sam Colorado, the grandfather of Chris, located downwards, they made knowledge when Chris fled Thanors come to remove its family. Chippowok, having saved to him the life after having found it lost in the desert, became then the guardian angel of Chris, faithful to the tradition of its people. And like very good Indian, he adores affubler any face pale of a nickname totemic ( Ouragan unchained for Chris, Condor Short-sighted person for the Admiral Mitchell) and must be expressed with force more or less sibylline metaphors and as many typical maxims such as “the bold wind can change to zéphir some burning” or even “he lies as the scorpion looks at through”.

  • Richard Julian : chief of the Centurions of Freedom , liberation movement having succeeded in overcoming the dictatorship of Thanatos, it was logically elected by the vote for all Grand Commander, directing World Federation, and thus chairs the destiny of planet since the capital Chichén Itzá. He has well-known the father of Chris, William-Erwin Krantz, to which he entrusted formerly the perilous mission of infiltrating the den of Thanors.

  • Jack Mitchell : Rear-admiral, commander-in-chief of the forces regular Naval Aviation, in charge of the protection brought closer to the commander Richard Julian. Authoritative soldier, it is wary of Chris Colorado.

  • Sam Colorado : Grandfather of Chris, alive in the Large Canyon. It has collected it after his/her father and the remainder of his family disappeared. He in general refuses to answer the questions of Chris about his past, pretexting a failing memory.

  • Jennifer Julian : capricious and bold girl of the Large Commander Richard Julian. She feels mysteriously attracted by Chris.

  • Rebecca Wong : First Adviser of the Julian Commander. Cold and distant, a little the opposite one of Jennifer, this Chinese is also old an activist of the party of the Axe of Steel , which was dissolves following its defeat at the polls vis-a-vis the Julian Commander. Although being suspicious with respect to Chris Colorado, they will understand quickly that they are same edge, also will agree they to trust each other within the World Federation.

  • Hurb Forsight III : Senior of the senators, member of the room of the federate ones. Founder of the party of the Axis of Steel and thus at the base opposing to the commander Richard Jullian, it is now faithful, and is director of the " Warp" , official secret services.

  • Thanatos : the mysterious dictator of the history to the head of Thanors, founder of group 666. Called by its faithful " Large Protecteur" , it has several capacities psychic and telepathic that it draws from the Black Torrent, liquidates black viscous emanating from the Météorite. No one does not know which hides behind its mask and its funereal clothing, but seems to him well to know its adversaries, to start with Chris which he would like to see joining his cause. The purpose of it is only to conquer the world (and to reign there more than 1000 years) to subject it to its doctrines, and finally to beat Richard Julian.

  • Thanors : recruited liking or of force by Thanatos. They underwent the " graft of Thanors" , surgical modifications (they do not have any more a face, for " to avoid the worship of the personnalité" , and hides it behind a skeletal mask of appearance) and a washing of brain transformed them into true fanatics ready with very to obey the Master and his doctrines. They thus do not hesitate to commit suicide rather than to fall to the hands from the enemy: for that, a simple support on a button located behind the temple plunges them in " catalepsie" , state close to the major Coma.   • William-Erwin Krantz : husband of Loren Krantz, father of Chris Colorado and Victoria Krantz. Former major of the centurions of the freedom which mysteriously disappeared at the time of a mission of infiltration of Thanors. He is regarded by much as a traitor.

  • Loren Krantz : marry of William Erwin Krantz, mother of Christopher Krantz and Victoria Krantz. According to the official version it would have disappeared in an air crash with her Victoria daughter.

  • Venceslas : mysterious character of which nobody seems to know something, with share the Julian commander. It could be that it is that which hides behind the mask of Thanatos.

  • the Mosaïs : Former inhabitants of quoted radiant, touched city of full whip by a glare of the meteorite. Prisoners under the debris of the city, they are largely affactés by the emanations of the meteorite, those of old western bank, more affected becoming the goules (close to the man monkey), those of old bank, is affected, the striges. Their territory is located under the closed area , and whoever penetrates there never returns from there.

Comments

The spirit of the series is surprisingly mature for a cartoon intended for youth. First of all, in the particular treatment reserved for the history. For example, this one is delayed little on the events which have occurred before the meteorite, only some allusions are done there but only on the basis of personal experience of Chris. Moreover, the bounces are numerous and the references tographic Cinéma pullulate (for example, New York 1997 for the crash landing of the Commander in the Closed Area or Chichén Itzá reconverted in an immense ultramodern military complex). To the universe of Science-fiction of the departure Politique, Espionnage is added, even of the Philosophie.

The characters of the series themselves have personalities very excavated compared to the other youth productions, even in the other series productions of animation to the realistic drawings. Having each one their particular motivations, when to this stories of treachery are added which make that one often doubts them. The characters represent the true depth of the series. Their rather rectangular, realistic and frayed features point out those of Batman, the changing .

In spite of enthusiastic criticisms, qualifying sometimes even the series of better cartoon of French science fiction since Ulysses 31 , the series does not see a second season and thus finishes in cut in front, the studio responsible for the project, Animage, having been closed by AB Productions meanwhile.
