Chorobate

The Chorobate is a Outil of checking of the levels used during the Roman Antiquité , in particular for the construction of Aqueduc S.

It was about a rule in which a groove was dug that the land-surveyor filled of water. At each end of the rule, a plumbline made it possible to materialize the vertical. By inclining the rule, a simple visual monitoring made it possible to appreciate the water run-off in the groove. Of this observation, it was possible to deduce the slope to be given to the aqueduct to guarantee to the work the same flow.
