Chopin de Seraincourt
19th century
Two family members Chopin, César and Albert, were elected mayors of Seraincourt.
20th century
Tested by the War of 1914-1918, where Gaëtan and Adhémar died, the family
Chopin de Seraincourt has nothing any more but one descendant, Jean, born the
June 10th 1897 with
Paris, and nephew of the precedents. Married in
1922 with Odette Mabille of Paumelière, after a career of officer of artillery, Jean settles in the property of family to
Brueil-in-Vexin. With its death, the
January 12th 1987, it is buried in the family vault of Seraincourt. Last male descendant of the line, it bequeathed its armorial bearings to the commune of Seraincourt.
Armorial bearings
The armorial bearings were yielded officially by Mr Jean Chopin, the
June 17th 1976, with the commune of Seraincourt. They can be read as follows:
“Of azure to the gold rafter, surmounted by a money anemone tigée in the same way and accompanied by three money palms”. They belonged to Claude Chopin, secretary of the King and had been recorded in
1697.
