Chobits

Chobits is a Manga of CLAMP.
Titrate original: ちょびっツ ( chobittsu ).
Published in French with the editions Pika Edition. Eight volumes on the whole. In Japan, the series was published in Young Magazine.

In 2002, the manga was adapted in series animated TV of 24 episodes by the Studio MADHOUSE. Comes then Chibits, an episode with Chii, Sumomo and one 6 minutes duration Kotoko.

Short summary of the history

Hideki Motosuwa, studying without university (Ronin), works in a bar to be done a little pocket money. Its dream is to be able to buy an personal assistant in the shape of robot humanoïde, the last accessory with the mode. It does not have obviously the means of them.

One evening, returning of work, he sees on a heap of refuse what he thinks of being a corpse, but which proves to be precisely a personal computer, in the shape of young girl. It collects it, brings it back at his place, and activates it. But this computer can nothing make, even not speak, just say “Chii”.

Hideki calls it thus, and gradually learns how to him to speak. But Chii is perhaps not an ordinary computer… it could be that it is Chobits, a very special computer.

(Note: In Japanese, " Chii" " decides; Tchii". This is why the name of Chii is spelled " Tchii" in volumes of the Editions Pika. Here, we preserved the original orthography, Chii.)

During the diffusion on TBS, it was envisaged 3 additional episodes, summarizing each one the 8 preceding episodes in the form of Flashback. The two first were diffused like the episodes n°9 and 18, increasing the full number of episodes with 26. The third, ever diffused, was finally published in the form of OAV on a DVD gathering these 3 special episodes, renumbered for the occasion n°8.5, 16.5 and 24.5.

These 3 episodes do not exist in the version French E. The titles according to are thus translations of the original titles.

In a chapter, Icchan of Angelic Layer is mentioned. A photograph of him appears, without the head, quoted like the inventor of combat headstocks which are clearly those Angelic Layer.
