Chinmoy KUMAR Ghose

Sri Chinmoy , born Chinmoy KUMAR Ghose (August 27th 1931 with Shakpura, Bangladesh - October 11th 2007 in New York, the United States of America), is a spiritual Master.

He is also writer, poet, musician, painter and impassioned sportsman. He devotes his life to the search of the harmony in the world and the realization of the unlimited potential of the human spirit. He founded the international centers Sri Chinmoy throughout the world in order to promote the harmony via innovating programs which are addressed to all.

Born Chinmoy KUMAR Ghose in the small village from Shakpura (Bengal Eastern, today Bangladesh) in 1931, Sri Chinmoy is youngest of a family of 7 children. In 1944, after the death of his/her parents, Chinmoy, then 12 years old, entered in Ashram de Sri Aurobindo, a spiritual community with Pondichery (southern of India). It spent there the 20 following years in spiritual practices — including long hours of meditation, the practice of the Athletics, the writing of poetries, tests and songs spiritual. During its adolescence, Chinmoy have the many ones and deep interior experiences, and in the years which followed reached very advanced states of meditation.

In 1964, it is established with New York in order to share its interior richness with the sincere researchers of Occident.

Its philosophy

Sri Chinmoy sees the aspiration - interior research without end of realities increasingly higher and major - as the spiritual force behind all the large projections in the field of the religion, culture, sport and science.

While living in the heart and while aspiring to a going beyond of oneself constant, the beings can express best themselves and find the way of the true satisfaction. Our goal is to go towards the light, more light, the greatest light, of going high, higher, with highest. And even in highest, there is no end with our progress, because God Himself is inside each one of us and God at every moment transcends His own Réalité.

Today, Sri Chinmoy is a spiritual Master for his students in more than 60 countries all over the world, encouraging a balanced lifestyle which incorporates the interior disciplines of the prayer and the meditation with the dynamism of the contemporary life. He travels regularly around the world to offer concerts, conferences and meditations public (all these activities are free), to meet his students, and to meet and speak about spirituality with political directors, local representatives and other spiritual Masters of the whole world.

The site of the National Assembly arranges association Sri Chinmoy of Paris among the sectarian groups from 500 to 2000 people.
