Chimaira

Chimaira is a group of Metalcore influenced by the Thrash metal formed in 1995 with Cleveland. The name of the group refers to the Chimère ( Chimera in English), animal of the Greek mythology composed of parts of various animals.

Biography

The singer Hunter Mark and the guitarist Jason Hager decide in 1998 to create the Chimaira group after having left their old group, Skipline. They recruit then the beater Jason Genaro - friend of Hager - like Andrew Ermlick with low. After some not very conclusive tests, Mark decides to engage Rob Arnold (ex-Sanctum) like second guitarist. As of the end of 1998 - at the beginning of 1999, Chimaira records several demonstrations. On the councils of Rob Arnold, the group returns Jason Genaro and recruits Andols Herrick (which also played him at Sanctum) in the place.

Andrew Ermlick, wanting to continue its studies, free in its Chimaira turn and is replaced by Rob Lesniack with low. Chimaira then records a demonstration éponyme made up of three titles: This Present Darkness, Empty and Refuse To See, which enables them to sign a contract with the recording company East Coast Empire Records.

In November 1999, Chimaira publishes its first EP: This Present Darkness which knows one big hit locally. One week after the exit of the disc, Chimaira recruits Chris Spicuzza with the samples. During the year 2000, Rob Lesniack is made return to be replaced by Jim LaMarca (friendly of Mark) and two demonstrations are recorded. One of it attracts Kevin Estrada, which brings closer the group to Roadrunner Records. But Chimaira continues to turn, on the whole 22 dates enters at the beginning of March and on July 2nd, 2000, and it is at the time of one in these concerts (in New York, for Roadrunner and Farmclub) which they is pointed out by Roadrunner and obtains a contract for the next album.

Chimaira leaves Pass Out Of Existence , first " vrai" album, in 2001. Learning that his wife is pregnant, Jason Hager leaves the group right after the recording of Pass Out Of Existence and is replaced by his/her best friend, Matt DeVries. The album is a world success thanks to great rounds at the sides of Soulfly, Fear Factory or Machine Head in particular.

In 2003 leaves The Impossibility Of Reason , obvious result of Pass Out Of Existence, which assoit a little more notoriety of Chimaira in the whole world. The group takes part then in the Ozzfest then turns to Europe, and passes in particular to the Fury Fest.

Andols Herrick, wearied several years of rounds, leaves Chimaira at the beginning of 2004 for, also, to resume its studies to him. Richard Eversand (then beater of Soilwork) joined the group a few weeks before the European round of 2004, but of many problems of visa, lodging but also of affinities quickly wearied the group which at the end of a few months separated from him to recruit Kevin Talley (which was beater of Dying Fetus).

And thus in 2005 the day Chimaira sees, with which they affirm their style definitively: heavy, dark and complex. The group continues to turn intensively.

Beginning 2006, Andols Herrick reinstates the group. In April 2006, the group announces its separation with the label Roadrunner. The members of Chimaira devote their summer 2006 to the writing of their fourth album. This one is entitled Resurrection and its recording began on October 2nd with the production Jason Suecof and Andy Sneap. The album left on March 6th, 2007 at Ferret Records to the United States and the day before at Nuclear Blast Records in the rest of the world. The group played Hellfest in France in 2007.
