Chimú

Of 1000 with 1460 after J.C.

Chimú civilization constituted a great empire. It gave in activity and increases the networks of irrigation left by the Mochicas.

The elite lived in the luxury, surrounded by beautiful monochromic ceramics and objects out of noble metals. Their most representative work, Tumi, was a ritual gold knife of one meter length and thirty centimetres broad used for the sacrifices with the gods.

To extend their territory towards the east, Chimú had to face the Incas, them also in full expansion. Civilization chimú disappeared under the attacks from the army from the emperor Tupac INCA Yupanqui, 50 years before the arrival of the Conquistador S.

The ruins of Chan Chan, old Chimú capital, are registered on the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO.
