Chilpéric Ier (king of the Francs)
Chilpéric Ier (born in 539 - died in 584 with Chelles), wire of Clotaire I {{er}} and of Aregonde, small son of Clovis Ier, was King de Neustrie of 561 with 584.
Biography
King of Neustrie in 561 with died of his/her father Clotaire I {{er}}, king of the Francs, who divided his kingdom between his four sons.
Chilpéric seizes the treasure of Soissons and occupies Paris. Nevertheless his/her brothers oblige it to respect the division.
In 566, he marries Galswinthe after having repudiated his first wife, Audovère. Galswinthe is girl of the king Visigoth Athanagild and sister of Brunehilde, woman of Sigebert I {{er}}, brother of Chilpéric and which inherited the Austrasie.
In 567, Galswinthe is assassinated (strangled in its bed). Sigebert is decided to avenge his/her sister-in-law, it is the beginning of a war between Neustrie and Austrasie which will last strong a long time.
He marries Frédégonde. Beaten by Sigebert, it owes its throne only with the assassination of this one in 575. In 584, it is in its assassinated turn.
His/her son, Clotaire II becomes king in 4 months, under the supervision of his Frédégonde mother and the protection of his uncle Gontran I {{er}}, king of Burgundy, which recovers in the passing the kingdom of Paris.
