Chilean Cinema

The cinema of Chile is rather old, because it appears as of the Années 1900. However the culture of cinematography develops especially since the Années 1970, with the foundation of a national cineclub and a department of experimental cinema to the Université of Chile, which teaches the Dutch Cinéma of Joris Ivens. The production of films was minimal until in 1967, when the moderate government of Eduardo Frei started to offer an economic support for industry. During this time of the realizers like Raúl Ruiz, Aldo Francia and Helvio Soto appear. The major part of the young realizers refer to the Marxist Unidad Popular of Salvador Allende.
