Synopsis
After the vision of documentary the Misery with Coal-mining of Henri Storck and Joris Ivens, Patrick Jean decides to turn over in this area where it is in addition native. He always discovers there misery and with the image filmeds in 1933 with his juxtaposes it. Patric Jean shows us to a form of social exclusion ordinary citizens, put aside that these last did not receive little or not instruction or of formation, and who find themselves without utility social. Poverty, illiteracy, family destructurées, family violence, alcoholism, prostitution encouraged by the parents of an young woman during her childhood, families in whom no professional occupation was followed more since several generations.

Patric Jean wrote: I decide to turn over to the Borinage, place of my childhood to write a letter-film with Henri Stork in connection with the social misery which remained until my time to introduce to its film the children of Coal-mining, letter with Henri Storck .It receives for this documentary Price Henri Storck (organized by the Fonds Henri Storck ) with the International festival of film of Brussels.
The documentary film puts forward the cynicism and the contempt of unquestionable political personalities which roundly will declare that poverty does not exist any more in Belgium, and that it made place with the social assistantship, that the borain is of nature plaintive compared to the poor of the Third World countries which live in a certain love of life.
Henry Storck encouraged the realizer to work on the documentary project and could see the completion of this last. He could according to the realizer note the existence of a misery and social violence in Belgium.
