A child prodigy dominates, at an early age, one or more scientific disciplines or artistic, generally only controlled by adults.

The expression Child prodigy should not be confused with the phrase Prodigal son , or Prodigal sons , resulting from a Christian parabola and describing a child who disappointed his parents.
