Chico (California)

Chico is a city located in the county of Hillock. According to the census of 2000, its population was of 59.954 inhabitants. A campus of the Université of State of California is in Chico. The city was founded in 1860 by the general John Bidwell and was built-in 1872.

Geography

The city has a surface of 71,9 km ² of which 0,04% consist of water levels. It is located at the north-eastern corner of the valley of Sacramento, one of the agricultural areas richest of the world. The city is in the east of the Sierra Nevada and its limits extend beyond the buttresses from those. Sacramento River runs in the west, with 8 kilometers of the limits of the city. Chico is cut into two by Bidwell Park, which extends on eight kilometers since the downtown area to the Eastern hills.

Government

The council of Chico consists of seven advisers. Each one of them are useful during four years. The mayor is chosen by the members of the council and officiates two years. The meetings take place the first and third Tuesday of each month. The advisers are:
