The Chicago Platform , is the main thing Quotidien of Chicago and the Midwest of the the United States, pertaining to the Tribune Company. Praising itself, itself, in the past, to be the World' S Greatest Newspaper (French: " the largest newspaper of the monde"), it is today always one of the ten principal daily newspapers of the United States.
History
The Tribune was rested by James Kelly, John E. Wheeler and Joseph K.C. Forrest and its first number were published the June 10th 1847. The newspaper knew many change of owners and editors at the time of the eight following years. In the beginning, the Tribune was not politically affiliated but supported rather the parties Whig and Free Soil against the Démocrates at the time of the elections. As of the end of 1853, it frequently happened that it publishes foreign leading articles aiming Xénophobe S and catholic. At the same time, it became also partisane temperance. As nativist as his leading articles could be, it is not before the February 10th 1855 that the Tribune was affiliated formally with the nativists American, or left Know Nothing, whose candidate Levi Boone was elected mayor of Chicago the next month. With semi-1855 Joseph Medill and Charles Ray repurchased the actions of the newspaper and dealt with its leading contents. Under their direction, the Tribune took its distances from with the Know Nothings and became the principal press agency of the Republican party
