Chicago May
Chicago May , from its true name May Duignan, was born in Edenmore, county of Dublin, in 1890. Girl of poor peasants, it flees in America at the 19 years age.
In a few years, May Duignan becomes Chicago May, prostitute, robber, arnaqueuse, dancer of musical review,… famous in all America of the beginning of the century. She cotoie in particular the Brothers Dalton with Philadelphia, and traverses the country of the Nébraska, with New York and Chicago, while passing by Cairo, London and Paris, where she was judged to have accepted the money of the bracage of the American Express Agency. She is imprisoned with Paris (Prison Saint-Lazare), with Fresnes, Clairmont; then after its judgment at five years of forced labors, it is led to the prison of Montpellier. In 1907, it is condemned to fifteen years of forced labors to have drawn on one from his/her former companions, recently left the bagne of Devil's Island. She is imprisoned with the prison of Aylesbury of London where she becomes acquainted with the Countess Constance Markievicz. At its exit, she emigrates in the United States, while passing by Ellis Island, before taking again the life carried out during years.
She dies in 1929, following an operation of the Fallopian tubes, the day before her marriage with Charles Smith (accessory to long time) and a year after having published her autobiography. She is buried with the cemetery of Fernwood, with Philadelphia.
