Chicago (manga)

シカゴ ( Chicago ) is a Manga of Yumi Tamura, prépublié between November 2000 and May 2001, then published in two volumes with the editions Flower Comics (Kōdansha).

Summary

Rei and Uozumi belong to the Forces of self-defense, section help. Also they naturally have to intervene when a underground Earthquake devastates part of Tōkyō. Sent on a zone in edge of sea, they make a macabre discovery - a group of people assassinated by balls.

But before they could do anything, a plane flies over the zone and loose bombs, destroying many buildings. Uozumi goes a mine, and loses a leg. At the price of main efforts, alone Rei and manage to him to escape, the other members are killed in the bombardment.

The whole section is declared disappeared, without any survivor, and the business is choked.

Several years later, Rei and Uozumi are contacted by mysterious “a J.J. ”, owner of the bar “Chicago”. He asks them to go to release an hostage, in exchange of what they will be able to perhaps progress in their search of the reasons of these events. They are joined by mysterious Shin.

Characters

Rei ( レイ ) is mentally very strong, but heavy mask last filled with violence. Its hair often obstructs it, but she refuses to cut them because they belong to her, enabling him “to feel” its environment.
Uozumi ( 魚住 ) is stressed less, taking the things of the good side. The loss of a leg does not start its moral and only a little its physical capacities. Its only currency is to save people, to catch up with his clean last. It is impassioned of music.
Shin ( シン ) is an enigmatic character, of which absolutely nothing is revealed - however it clearly has a drive with the weapons and nombeuses disciplines.
