Chiasso

Chiasso is a common Suisse of the Canton of Tessin located at the border with the Italy. It is the southernmost commune of the country and is on the great international way of transit of Basle to Milan while passing by the Gothard.

Geography

Although located on Swiss territory, in the Mendrisiotto, the commune of Chiasso belongs to the plain of the Po. It forms an agglomeration with Like and Mendrisio. Southern main door of Switzerland, its situation of city-border is worth to him to be an important shopping mall, both for the road traffic the rail traffic. Its principal artery, Corso San Gottardo, is a succession of banks, buildings commercial and companies of logistics.

History

In 1980, Chiasso absorbed the commune of Pedrinate.
